FYI - After getting tired of the limitations + constraints we had using Mailchimp (similar to the better known Constant Contact) along with the costs, we decided to post future updates here.  This way, more people will get them, and hopefully we will have more creative freedom here as well!  Stay tuned as we learn how to get the most out of this new platform, and keep our beloved Buick community up to date on everything!

Summer of 2026 Update

  We got a few things going on here at the Buick GS Club of America to update everyone on, so let's jump right in!   We have been catching up on quite a LOT here, even though it may not look like it on the outside.  After out part time helper left us hanging last year, it's been quite an adjustment to say the least.  But through all this, we have found ways to streamline the mailing list creation in the future.  We are also getting some new help from best friend and fellow Buick nut Dave England and his wife Darla that will catch us up the rest of the way, PLUS keep us on schedule going forward!  TONS of good things will come from this!!!

The Buick GSCA Phone / Email... 

   One major change that is already in effect is that Dave is now covering the GSCA phone for us.  He will be answering calls and texts MUCH faster than we were able to do.  Plus, he will be able to return any calls that he misses in a timely manner, which I was also not able to do.  This is an important part of the club that needed addressed.  

   Our Email is still handled by myself (Paul Ferry), which has been hard to keep up with as well.  But as Dave and Darla ease the load and stress around here, catching up and keeping up with that should get a LOT better as well!

   So basically, at this point, if you need a quick reply and don't necessarily need to contact me directly, then the phone would be your best option.  If time isn't a big factor and you want to be sure that I get your message/etc, then our email or the CONTACT US form on our website is the way to go (especially for classified ads, photo/article submissions, letters to the editor, and other newsletter related items).

The 4th GSX-tra for the 2025 set is mailing out THIS WEEK...

    This one took a lot of extra time to create for various reasons.  I go into FULL detail in this current newsletter, not holding anything back.  I wanted to be as transparent with everything as we could, and I might have been a bit too real/true with things this time.  But after hearing feedback and questions about me/the club, there were some things that simply needed to be cleared up.

   One thing that happened after we got the file to our printer was dealing with the mailing list.  I just spent the last 2 weeks+ discovering and fixing quite a bit of discrepancies in our database.  Most of this stems from our previous employee, that seemed to be doing a great job.  Turns out, some members had typo's with their address that cause issues mailing, and some duplicate years that they purchased that should have pushed to the following year (so everyone gets what they paid for), and a bunch of other things.  This was a MAJOR overhaul to fix it all, and will make things more correct and faster in the future.  Making sure EVERY MEMBER gets their newsletter as soon as possible is our goal, and should go smoother now that everything is correct.  

   And like the last GSXTRA newsletter... The "digital" version of the newsletters will be available in the MEMBES ONLY section on the club website!  I should have this one available there within a couple days of reading this.  The online version is an ADDED BONUS to the printed one, and is NOT intended to replace the printed version that so many like to receive.

    And as always, there is NEVER a wrong time to join the Buick family + community, and be a part of one of the best and longest running car clubs out there!  New 2026 members are also on this GSXTRA mailing list, and will receive this "free" newsletter since we are running so far behind.

Buick GSCA Shirts + Hats + Banners...

   The club (NOT event) shirts have been a great addition to the GSCA.  We got an unexpected surge of orders right before the Nat's, which we shipped out before we left town.  And at the Nat's, we sold out of a few sizes and 99% of the dark version (got a couple small size left), and the few hats we had.

   FYI, we weren't happy dealing with the people that did the previous printings of the shirts for a few reasons, and have found a new and local supplier to make the next batch.  They are super concerned with the quality and making them exactly how we want.  We plan to make some other cool designs too!  So stay tuned on all that.

   For all online and mail-in orders for shirts and hats, we will ship them out as soon as this next batch gets done.  I will be finalizing the details this week, and then whatever their production schedule is - which shouldn't be too long.

   Nat's Event BANNERS are on the club website too, and in stock ready to ship.  The 45th banner turned out REALLY nice, better than expected.  It has a cool old-school vibe, with some nice Buicks being shown off (plus a tribute to Bobby Buick + little Davey Fiscus).  If you haven't put any of these banners up in your garage, shop, or trailer, then you are REALLY missing out!  It's a GREAT way to show off your Buick passion!!!

The Future of these UPDATES...

   To be totally honest, I don't fully like the new setup we had for these Digital Updates.  And at the same time, I am not thrilled with this current way either.  So for now, the best thing to do for members is to provide BOTH.  That way, more people will be able to get them, and be easier to locate.  Just go to the MEMBERS ONLY section, and look for the DIGITAL UPDATES section (using tabs at the top or the 3 dashes on cell phones to find them).

   After discussing this with Dave and others, we got some really cool ideas to work with.  After looking at what other clubs offer to members with their website content, we have NO doubt that ours will surpass most everything out there.  That's one thing that is nice about the internet... we can have practically unlimited content available there.  Just click and ENJOY, and check back every couple weeks for new stuff!

08/31/26 Update

I know everyone is busy, so we will just hit the highlights here. We got a couple things to catch up on, and some good news to share. THANKS to Willie Wager for the inspiration on the image above! Nothing like a show quality full weight Buick convertible pulling the wheels on every pass!

The DOUBLE SIZED GS NAT'S GSXTRA Newsletter went to the post office today!

The GS Nat's issue will start mailing out immediately. It is has been the one that most of you look forward to holding in your hands and flipping through the pages! This year's turned out REALLY GOOD! While putting it all together, I realized that I am actually doing what other publications get done using a TEAM of people to do. Just being double the pages makes it double the regular workload, but it is so much more than that with checking info, getting names, coordinating with others, editing pics, sorting pics, extra layout, etc. 

This go around got delayed a bit longer than usual for a good reason... I found ways to automate several of the steps that are time consuming. It took a LOT to figure out and get into place, but from here on, it will save big chunks of time on future Nat's issues - making it well worth the investment! We will also post it in the MEMBERS ONLY section of the club website too, so members can take a peek at it while waiting on the postal service to deliver.

This Nat's GSXTRA is the first one on 2026 (NONE are lost in the mail). This is officially the furthest we have been behind, but like mentioned above, we are actually getting things into place that will help us catch up and stay caught up. We got a TON of print-worthy pics that couldn't fit in the newsletter too, that will find a new home on the club website!

The GSXTRA's aren't the only thing we have been working on. For most of you, the newsletters seem like the main reason to be in the club... but it really isn't. It was like that for several decades, but the "membership experience" is about to get a level 10 upgrade! We did those green questionnaires a while back and found out what you all want to get from the club, and there will be so much content + features available that nobody should ever get bored. 

The down side for now is that it all takes time, funds, effort, and a new website too... which takes away from what I already have to do with the newsletters right now. Things are actually progressing pretty good right now.

My grandson Debon (that takes a lot of the Nat's photo's) is working on the new website. We have brainstormed through the overall layout and function of it all, and got some stuff in place. It will be even bigger and better than I originally planned!  It will even be doing things I didn't even know were possible! He also just found out he will be having another little girl next year! So Congrat's on making us double great grandparents! Yes, it makes me feel older than I am!

But I still have the other 2026 GSXTRA's to get done too. FYI - I am already well into the 2nd one, and got stuff setup for the 3rd and 4th one already too. So we should get back onto schedule quicker than what everyone is probably thinking or expecting.

We got a LOT of requests for tech articles too. We have some lined up, but if you have anything to contribute or share, PLEASE send it in to us. We are a club where members help members!

Behind the scenes with the Buick GSCA ...

For those following my back pain issues, things have stayed fairly steady / tolerable after the nerve ablation (burning the nerves). It never took all the pain away like we all hoped and expected from the test run, but I will take any level of relief I can get. I just have to watch bending over, or lifting too much. And when it acts up, get some cold on it ASAP. Other than that, it's constant bio-freeze and try to not sit/stand in the same position for too long.

The Riv racecar has been sitting with absolutely zero progress on it in the past 6 months or so. I simply can't justify putting any time into it when we are so far behind and with the other stuff (below) going on. We are hoping that it all comes together over the winter months, but only God know how this will play out.

The other thing we got going on are my in-laws health. We had to put my father-in-law into assisted living earlier this year when his wife with dementia basically kicked him out. She later calmed down and started asking where he was at. So we changed gears again and moved him back home. But by then, both their health had declined more, and we had to install grab bars and all kinds of things for them to stay at home as long as possible. That has been overwhelming in more ways than we can count.

They are both on hospice right now, and it is looking like she will probably pass soon (96 yrs old). He has issues, but could live for quite a while longer (97 right now). We finally got some help hired, along with the Hospice care, which took a lot off our plate. Hard to not give all you can to someone that helped so many others his whole life, fought in the Korean war, volunteered for 25,000 hours at VA facilities, and so much more. I wish more young people could see how rewarding a life poured out for others can be.
